What is yoga?
The
word yoga means "union," and refers
to the goal of uniting one's body, mind and spirit. For thousands of
years, the practice of yoga has been used to achieve health, vitality
and inner peace. People today are generally most familiar with asana,
the aspect of yoga that deals with strengthening the body through physical
postures or exercises.
Yoga at balance
At balance,
we teach hatha yoga, a system of yoga poses designed to align and
purify the body. A typical 75-minute class will include stretching
and strengthening, breath work and relaxation. Unlike most yoga
studios, our classes are limited to a maximum of 14 students to
provide you with personalized, individual instruction.
